If you spend 4 hours beating me up on price and I sell you the car $3k below market value, I don’t care if detail missed a few spots during cleanup. The way I look at it, you’re lucky I didn’t spit on the car and tell you to take it as is...

Makes sense.

you didnt tag it to his service file for the car “sorry jerk tried to beat me out of $3K........ and still whined about detail” ?..................

You agreed to the price, and just because it was less than you would have liked, you still agreed. Unless the sales contract says that the discount is tied to the standard pre-delivery services being half-assed, then there’s no excuse for half-assing it.

A detail and gas is a courtesy. Nowhere does it say that it’s required when you buy a car.

I guess if the guy was really bent about it he could go across town to the Lexus dealership :)

I guess it all depends if you want them to come back to you for service.

I kinda wish this guy would have. He ate up 6 hours of my day yesterday (he grinded me for 3 hours the first time, then came back at the end of the day and held me 2 hours after closing trying again before he finally conceded to “only” 3k off) and it’s all for a mini deal at this point.

This is one of the many reasons that dealers are so cherished.

I don’t really care how you feel about me. The fact of the matter is that a wash bay is an operational cost, and a customer that takes the lion share of our profits on a vehicle and keeps the wash bay open an additional 2 hours in the process needs to have more realistic expectations about what they’re going to receive.
You can’t have it all. And anyone that thinks they should is either immature or an entitled prick.

Don’t agree to it then. He didn’t put a gun to your head.
You can’t have it all either. Sounds like you still made some profit off it. Nice mark ups, I doubt you’d give $3,000 worth of service if someone paid asking price. Hearing a bit of whining after is worth whatever you made.

$3k under? [withdraws cash] Where do you work again?
